The suspension of Bursar of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River State, Mr Peter Agi, has been formally ratified by the Governing Council of the school.

The Council said it was satisfied with the reasons presented by Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof Zana Akpagu, to suspend Mr Agi for an alleged offence.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar of the institution, Mr Moses Abang, members of the Council were unanimous in upholding the suspension order after a careful perusal of the report presented by the Vice Chancellor on the reasons that gave rise to the action.

It was said that the decision was taken at the 145th meeting of the Council held at the Council Chambers of the University.

The release further disclosed that the Governing Council replaced the investigative panel earlier set up by the Vice Chancellor with a Joint Council/Senate panel as prescribed in the law establishing the University.
