Six best WASCE students in 2015 and 2016 from schools in the three senatorial zones of Abia State have each received scholarship to further their education in any Nigerian university of their choice.

The kind gesture was made by the state Governor, Mr Okezie Ikpeazu, at an interactive session with students from the state.

The occasion was the official opening of an ultra-modern e-library in Abia State.

The Governor explained that he doled out the scholarships to the beneficiaries as part of his commitment to boost education in the state as well as encourage others to want to take education serious.

Mr Ikpeazu added that this was why his administration embarked on building ultra-modern e-libraries in the state.

He also disclosed that his administration plans to build a 250 capacity fully equipped laboratory in each school across the state’s 17 LGA, to promote science and technology in the state.

According to him, the Abia State University (ABSU) and Abia State Polytechnic have consistently maintained a leading position in law school and ICT respectively.
