The sum of N1.129 billion was realised in September 2016 by the Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr Selechang Taupyen, spokesman of the command disclosed on Monday in a statement.

According to Mr Taupyen, the amount showed an increase in revenue in the same month in 2015, which was about N833.791 million.

He expressed optimism that the command’s revenue would increase once the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the command and the Republic of Benin was operational.

The spokesman explained that the MoU involved the Benin Government handing over all transit vehicles to the command.

Mr Taupyen disclosed further that with the compliance in the general unification of values across border commands and the strict adherence to the clearance procedure of general goods, the command will be able to sustain the principle of compliance, transparency and integrity.
