Former spokesman to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Reuben Abati, has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mr Abati, a journalist, was arrested by the anti-graft agency on Monday.
He is being questioned over his alleged role in the embezzlement of over $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms to fight terrorism in the north eastern part of Nigeria by the last administration.
Mr Abati was accused of receiving part of the said money from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Mr Sambo Dasuki, who is now being tried by the Nigerian government.
According to reports, the former media to Mr Jonathan might not be allowed to return to his home tonight and will be kept in EFCC’s custody.
Mr Abati, since leaving office with his former boss, has remained in the news through his articles.
