No fewer than 13 members of staff of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, have been dismissed by management of the institution.

The affected workers are in the junior cadre of the school’s workforce.

They were sacked for alleged falsification of their West African Junior School Certificate Examination results and stealing diesel.

Two of the 13 workers dismissed by the school, Olatunji Olasunkanmi and Okunsanya Olashile, were accused of stealing 200 litres of diesel each.

LASU posted on its website that the dismissal of 13 of its employees was ratified at the school’s Governing Council 112th statutory meeting held on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

The school said the Council “received and considered Paper No. 10/GC/16/068 on the Report of Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee on allegations levelled against some members of staff.”

“Council, after deliberations, APPROVED the RECOMMEDATIONS of the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee on the affected members of staff,” it said.

“However, the Body could not consider some other issues, most especially staff promotions as a result of time constraint and the need to give additional information on candidates recommended for promotion.

“The Governing Council therefore DEFERRED the consideration of these cases to its Expedient Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

“The meeting of Tuesday November 15, 2016 is intended solely to clear all promotion and welfare related outstanding issues before the Governing Council.

“The Management of Lagos State University is therefore using this medium to assure members of staff that the issues in questions are of utmost importance to the University,” it further said.
