Some teachers sponsored by the Jigawa State government to study in universities across the world for in-service courses and have graduated have refused to report to their place of work.
Head of Service in the state, Mr Mohammed Inuwa Tahir, informed newsmen that this has compelled the government to suspend indefinitely in-service training courses.
He also said the state government has now set up a special committee to find those involved and other teachers receiving salaries without going to work.
Mr Tahir noted that the teachers betrayed state government’s trust by remaining abroad when their expertise was needed back home.
“What kind of degree course does a worker spend 15 years studying and still collecting salaries?” the Head of Service asked.
He said, “Our government will not condone laziness and unfair act by some workers who have the habit of completing their study and refusing to report back to their place of work.”
However, Mr Tahir emphasised that the government would continue to pay more attention and provide quality education in the state.
