Kwara Govt Promotes 1,323 Civil Servants

Kwara State Governor, Mr Abdulfatah Ahmed, has approved the promotion of 1,323 civil servants in the state workforce.

The Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Mr Ibrahim Adelodun Salman, who made the made the announcement in Ilorin, disclosed that 1,400 individuals sat for promotion exam June this year.

He added that only 1,323 were able to scale through the examination and interview conducted for the civil servants this year August.

Mr Adelodun further explained that the promotion spread across all the grade levels, right from level 07 to grade level 17.

The commission boss who said the promotion would cost the government between N5.5m and N6m, disclosing that letter would be presented to the civil servants next week.

According to him, “Since the present administration come on board in 2011, the government is arrears to any worker in terms of promotion. Government promote workers as and when due. Even the immediate past regime also promote workers as and when due.”

He further explained that process of promoting those due for promotion in 2017 would be commenced December this year.

Mr Adelodun who emphasised that the present administration deserved gratitude from the state workforce, advised the entire workforce to justify the government’s action by remained committed to their statutory duties.

He explained that the commission followed due process in determining those qualified, adding that those left fell below cut off marks.

Mr Adelodun added examination and interviews were used as a determinant factors to determine competency and eligibility.
