Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB), Dr Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin, has called on philanthropists and corporate organisations to compliment government efforts at providing qualitative education in the state.

Dr Sopeyin made the call while commissioning the newly refurbished Nathan Primary School, Surulere, executed by the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization.

He gave assurance that the state government would always give necessary support and cooperation to those willing to support its various measures to give sound education to children in the state.

According to Sopeyin, the growth and future of any nation depends to a great extent on its ability to offer the citizenry quality education, noting that the achievement recorded so far in the sector, especially under the current administration should be sustained.

The Executive Director of Bunmi Adedayo Foundation, Mrs Yemisi Adedayo, disclosed that the Foundation would from next year spread its support to the education sector across five Local Governments in the State with a view to complimenting government’s effort in that sector.

She stated that the Foundation has also concluded plans to give out scholarship awards to some less privilege public primary school pupils to further their education.

Mrs Adedayo disclosed that the Foundation would establish two ICT laboratories at the Yaba Model Primary School which the Foundation rebuilt and commissioned early this year and Nathan Primary School, both at Surulere Local Government Area.

“These laboratories with each having the capacity to accommodate 44 pupils at once would be available for other schools in the Local Government while the Foundation would also fund the training of the teachers for a year,” she said.
