Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has been expelled by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Also sacked by the party were House of Representatives member, Mr Ladi Adebutu; factional chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr Sikirullai Ogundele; and the factional state Secretary, Mr Tolu Bankole.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday at the state secretariat of PDP on IBB Boulevard, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Bayo Dayo, noted that the affected members were expelled in order to save the party.

He accused the four persons of engaging in anti-party activities, describing them as “incurably cancerous to the PDP.”

This development comes barely 24 hours after Mr Sikirullai Ogundele suspended Mr Bayo Dayo, Mr Buruji Kashamu, Mr Pegba Otemolu and others from the Ogun PDP, accusing them of anti-party activities.

“The State Executive Committee have examined their actions and concluded that it is continually inimical to the sustenance and progress of the PDP in Ogun state.

“We shall not allow them to destroy our party before migrating to another one.

“Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, Sikirulai Ogundele and Tolu Bankole are guilty of acts of insubordination, the wilful undermining of the party and antiparty activities.

“They are hereby expelled from the party and cease to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun state and the entire Federation,” Mr Dayo said.
