Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the 2017 budget presented to it by Governor Nyesom Wike few days ago.

The Rivers lawmakers said on Friday that they were satisfied with the N470 billion proposed by Mr Wike for the fiscal year 2017.

According to Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Adams Dabotorudima, the 2017 appropriation bill was passed after due deliberations.

He revealed that the members of the Assembly carefully looked into report from the House Committee on Appropriation given the mandate to scrutinise the budget.

Addressing his colleagues, Chairman of the appropriation committee, Mr Martins Amaewhule, said his panel did a thorough job on its assignment and then recommended that the bill be passed without delay.

His recommendation was then adopted and the Rivers State 2017 Appropriation Bill was passed into law by the Assembly.
