The lingering crisis rocking Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State may soon be over if feelers reaching us are anything to rely on.
On Wednesday, representatives of Oyo and Osun States, both owners of the tertiary institutions met in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to talk on how to solve the problems.
The crisis has affected academic activities in the school, which has been shut down for the past seven months.
At the meeting on Wednesday, Oyo State government was represented by its Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Joseph Olowofela accompanied by the Special Adviser on Education to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Dr Bisi Akin Alabi; while the representatives of Osun State government were led by Deputy Governor, Mrs Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori who doubles as the acting Commissioner for Education.
According to what Business Post gathered, both state governments agreed that there is an urgent need to reopen the institution because of the growing anger of students and parents.
It was further learnt that both owners of the school is working hard to avert the planned protest by students on Monday, January 9, 2017.
“They discussed the issue of urgent reopening of LAUTECH and have taken some useful steps to that effect,” a source told Business Post.
