Sterling Bank Appoints Varma as Director

The management of Sterling Bank has announced the appointment of Mr Sujit Kumar Varma, as a Non-Executive Director on its board.

A statement issued by the financial institution disclosed that the appointment of Mr Varma has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Mr Varma is presently the Chief General Manager, International Banking (IB), State Bank of India.

He started his banking career as an officer with State Bank of India in 1987 and has worked in various capacities acquiring expertise in all aspects of banking. He has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the New York Branch of State Bank of India between 2009 and 2013.

Mr Varma holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ranchi University, India. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

He was appointed a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Sterling Bank Plc in February 2017.
