A total of $470 million has been approved by the Federal Government for the completion of a water project in Abuja to serve residents of the country’s capital.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Mohammed Bello, disclosed on Wednesday that the project is being funded by the China EXIM Bank.

Addressing newsmen, the Minister said the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project was one of the three memoranda his ministry presented to the FG.

Mr Bello, who spoke after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, stated further that the project will provide water to what he described as “loops 1, 2, 5 and 6.”

He said the overall master plan for Abuja has 10 loops out which loops 3 and 4 are already operational, providing water to Garki, Asokoro and the Central Business District.
