Buhari Nominates 5 for CBN Board Job

Five persons have been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation into the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President Media & Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, disclosed that names of the nominees have been sent to the Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, for confirmation.

The nominees, when confirmed, would be Non-Executive Directors of the central bank’s Board.

Names of the nominees are Professor Ummu Ahmed Jalingo (North East), Professor Justitia Odinakachukwu Nnabuko (South East), Professor Mike Obadan (South South), Dr Abdu Abubakar (North West), and Mr Adeola Adetunji (South West).

Mr Adesina explained that the President’s action was in “accordance with Sections 6 (1) (d) and 10 (1) and (2) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2007.”
