FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays to Mark Easter

By Modupe Gbadeyanka

Friday, April 14 and Monday, April 17, 2017 have been declared by the Federal Government as public holidays.

The two days have been set aside to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, Mr Abdulrahman Dambazau, Nigerians were urged to use the occasion to pray for unity and peaceful co-existence in the country.

The Minister also enjoined Christians and other Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ and extend spiritual benefits of Easter such as love, peace, justice, sacrifice and kindness in all their interaction during the holidays.

While wishing all Nigerians a happy Easter celebration, Mr Dambazau emphasised the need for Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s sustained efforts to build a strong and virile nation.
