CIBN Ready for 22nd World Conference of Banking Institutes in Lagos

Information reaching Business Post reveals that the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) is already dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s ahead of the 22nd World Conference of Banking Institutes (WCBI) taking place in Lagos.

Also, the expected speakers for the occasion are getting prepared and ensuring nothing stops them from gracing the anticipated event.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, will headline biennial global conference, which takes place on April 24 – 28, 2017 at the Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The theme of the event is ‘Rethinking the Future of Banking and Finance and Life-Long Learning’ and its Chairman is the Emir of Kano, Mr Lamido Sanusi, who himself is a former banker and the immediate past Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria.

Panellists for the programme include Mr Ade Ayeyemi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Lome, Togo; Mr Temitope Odukoya, Partner, West Africa Financial Advisory Leader, Deloitte (Nigeria); and Mr Kay Luan Tay, Executive Director Australia New Zealand Institute.

Others are Mr Kevin Moore, Director Global Business Development, Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI, UK); and Dr (Mrs) Olateju Abiola Somorin, President/Chairman of Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).

On April 7, 2015, the CIBN successful bided for the hosting right of the 2017 WCBI and was unanimously endorsed to organize the 22nd edition in Nigeria.

The event brings together professionals from financial services industry and other stakeholders engaged in banking operation, education and training, numbering over 100 organizations spanning across the globe.

The first conference was held in Edinburgh, UK in 1975.
