By Modupe Gbadeyanka

Federal Government has disclosed that it has finally resumed exploratory activities in the Lake Chad Basin.

With his development, Borno State will soon officially become one of the oil producing states in the country.

On Monday, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Saidu Mohammed, paid a courtesy visit to the Borno State Governor, Mr Kashim Shettima, in Maiduguri to brief him on the corporation’s plans to make this a reality.

Already, according to Mr Mohammed, the NNPC has started mobilisation to site.

He noted that the relative peace in the region has made this possible.

Last year, after several months of exploration in Borno State, the Federal Government revealed that it had discovered crude oil in the region.
