Plans have been concluded to have one of the leading airline operators in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines, commence flight operations from the Kaduna International Airport.

Management of the company, Business Post gathered, was in Kaduna State on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, to have a meeting with the state government on how to finalise this.

During the meeting, Ethiopian Airlines management assured Governor Nasir El-Rufai, of quality service. The Governor was applauded for creating a conducive environment for investments in Kaduna State.

Information gathered by our correspondent revealed that the airline has concluded plans to begin flights operations from the Kaduna airport from Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Mr El-Rufai also confirmed this on Tuesday when he posted on Twitter page, “(I am) pleased to announce that Ethiopian Airlines will commence flights from Kaduna International Airport from the 1st of August 2017.”

Recall that earlier this year, when flights to Abuja were diverted to the Kaduna airport to allow for repairs on the runway of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Ethiopian Airlines was the only international operator that agreed to use the Kaduna airport.

Before the Abuja airport was closed, the Federal Government had upgraded the Kaduna Airport to make it meet up with international standard.

Ethiopian Airlines, fondly called Ethiopian, is a firm wholly owned by the Ethiopian and is also the flag carrier of Ethiopia.

It was founded on December 21, 1945, but started operations on April 8, 1946. During the past seventy plus years, Ethiopian has become one of the continent’s leading carriers, unrivalled in Africa for efficiency and operational success, turning profits for almost all the years of its existence.

Operating at the forefront of technology, the airline has also become one of Ethiopia’s major industries and a veritable institution in Africa.

It commands a lion’s share of the pan African network including the daily and double daily east-west flight across the continent.

Ethiopian currently serves 100 international and 21 domestic destinations operating the newest and youngest fleet.
