BREAKING: Abuja Court Stops Melaye’s Recall by INEC

Reports say a court in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to temporarily stop its recall of Senator Dino Melaye.

TVC News, a television platform in Nigeria, disclosed that the order was given by the court on Thursday.

Mr Melaye, a lawmaker representing the Kogi-West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, also confirmed this.

The controversial Senator disclosed that the restraining order was granted by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

“Thank You Jesus. Status quo should be maintained says Federal High Court Abuja on the fake recall case. Yahaya Bello is a loser,” Mr Melaye posted on his Twitter page on Thursday evening.

This week, the electoral body released timetable for the recall of the lawmaker.

Yesterday, the Senate threw its weight behind Mr Melaye, calling the process as a mere waste of time.

The lawmaker and his state Governor, Mr Yahaya Bello, have been in a bitter fight recently with both exchanging harsh words.
