A den belonging to kidnappers and ritualists was on Tuesday morning uncovered in the Ijaiye area of Lagos State.

According to a Lagos-based journalist, Mr Adeola Adeoti, who narrated the incident, the ritualist hole was discovered by a sweeper along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

It was gathered that the den is an underground canal in which many commuters ply and the group’s activities was exposed by a roadside sweeper who heard the voice of a woman crying for help from the canal.

The sweeper was said to have swiftly alerted some area boys around who quickly entered into the canal in the company of three soldiers.

However, their effort was rewarded as they apprehended a young man who was part of the kidnappers.

Unfortunately, before they entered the canal, the woman who cried for help had been killed, but her little baby was found.

Under the canal, the soldiers were said to have found different body parts and many routes linking to the canal.

In the course of their hunt, another man belonging to the group was also arrested and later confessed being part of a 28-member group operating under the canal.

However, one of the two men was burnt to ashes by the angry mob, while the other was taking to Ojokoro police station.
