The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has carried out a minor shake-up, moving one of its deputy governors to another department and assigning duties to the two newly appointed ones.

A statement issued on Sunday by the acting Director of CBN in charge of Corporate Communications Department, Mr Isaac Okorafor, disclosed that Governor of the bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele, moved Dr Okwu Nnanna to the Economic Policy Directorate from the Financial System Stability (FSS) Directorate.

However, Mr Adebayo Adelabu was left in his position as the Deputy Governor in charge of Operations Directorate.

Also, the two new deputy governors, Mrs Aishah Ahmad and Mr Edward Lemetek Adamu were given their responsibilities.

While Mr Emefiele deployed Mrs Ahmad to the Financial System Stability (FSS) Directorate, Mr Adamu was moved to the Corporate Services of the apex bank.

Last month, the Senate finally screened and confirmed the duo of Mrs Aishah Ahmad Mr Edward Lemetek Adamu for the position.

They were appointed in 2017 by President Muhammadu Buhari and their names sent to the upper parliament for confirmation.

But a disagreement between the red chamber of the National Assembly and the executive delayed their confirmation.

A member of the Senate had to appeal to his colleagues to consider confirming the two deputy governors and four nominees of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to allow the committee form a quorum to hold its monetary policy meeting after missing the one earlier slated for January 2018.

This plea was heeded and the two deputy governors were confirmed, paving way for their involvement in the MPC meeting last week after they were inaugurated into office.
