Nigerian Records World’s ‘Longest Officially Released Song’

Nigerian youth continue to show that despite being described as lazy by their President, Mr Muhammadu Buhari, they are resourceful, vibrant and productive.

Recently, a Nigerian gospel singer named Chika Nwaogu, otherwise known as St. Chika, officially broke the Guinness World of ‘the longest Officially Released Song.’

The former record was held by PC III Label Pipe Choir from USA in 2015, but was most recently broken by Dominican Republic rapper Henry G with a 3 hours 26 minutes, 22 seconds long song.

However, the Nigerian gospel singer broke the record with his 4 hours, 2 minutes, 4 seconds long song titled ‘Power in the Name of the Lord.’ breaking the previous record with over 36 minutes.

With this, St Chika has joined other Nigerians who boast of Guinness World Record like Kaffy and DJ Obi.

Commenting on this feat, St Chika said he had initially hoped to record a gospel single, which would be 3 hours, 30 minutes, 50 seconds long, but decided to go much longer.

The song, which features 64 verses, was released on digital stores like iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Deezer, Google Play, Soundcloud and Youtube and would be be released on blogs later in the month.

The 28-year-old singer started his attempt at a recording studio in Lagos on Sunday, May 20 and finished on Thursday, May 24, 2018.

A graduate of Physics from the University of Lagos, St. Chika began singing, playing the instrument and writing his own songs at the age of 8.

The fast-rising gospel singer said he draws his inspiration from top gospel acts such as Travis Greene, Nathaniel Bassey, Eben, Joe Praize and Sinach.
