Abeokuta Flood: Presidential Committee Visits Ogun

On Wednesday, the Presidential Committee on Flood Assessment visited Ogun State to access the extent of damage of the recent flash flood in the state.
Chairman of the committee, Prof. Emmanuel Adanu, speaking to newsmen after visiting Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his office in Abeokuta today, said the committee would access the technical profile of the rivers and make recommendations to the federal government in accordance with its mandate.
Mr Adanu, who said his team visited Odo-Eran, Oke-Lantoro, Ogun River and other affected areas, assured that necessary action will be taken as soon as the committee submits its reports.
Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, Mr Bolaji Oyeleye, speaking during the visit, said necessary data has been collected for analysis and recommendations.
He added that the team also offered advice on how to convert such volume of flood into positive use, assuring that measures would be taken to prevent future occurrence.
