Abia Plans Free Healthcare Services for Senior Citizens

Senior citizens residents in Abia State may soon start to enjoy free healthcare services courtesy the

Abia State government.

At a celebration to mark the World Health Organization Day for the aged at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, wife of the Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, disclosed that this service would be available in all Community Health Centres in the state.

During the event, the senior citizens were celebrated by the government and were given free medical screening and others.

An Mrs Ikpeazu said it has been the desire of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for a long time to bring aged parents together under one roof and in such commemorative jollification atmosphere.

She noted the Governor’s much interest and passion in providing good healthcare services for Abians, especially the elderly, which gave birth to the ongoing free home healthcare for Abia senior citizens.

In addition to the ongoing free home healthcare care for the elderly, she said the Governor has plans to ensure all Community Health Centres across the state will have a free healthcare section for the aged in our communities.
