El-Rufai Finally Kicks Shehu Sani Out of APC

The supremacy battle between Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and the Senator Shehu Sani has finally been won by the former.

Mr Sani is an activist and the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

The Senator on Saturday evening confirmed that he has resigned his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Sani, who was reportedly assured of an automatic ticket of the APC to contest in the 2019, was disappointed when his name was not submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Instead, candidate of the Governor, Mr Uba Sani, was submitted to take the slot of the Senator.

In a post today, the lawmaker said, “I didn’t book the morning flight from Cairo just because others are (sic) book; I didn’t book the afternoon flight from Alexandria; I didn’t book the evening flight from Luxor; I endured and book (sic) the night flight from Sham El Sheikh at my convenience.”

Few months ago, some aggrieved lawmakers of the APC staged a mass defection to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including the Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, and Mr Sani was supposed to move with them, but he declined, showing support for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The lawmaker had been very critical of the ruling APC, President Buhari and Governor El-Rufai.
