Ezekwesili Remembers Late Father

Frontline female candidate in the 2019 presidential elections, Obiageli ‘Oby’ Ezekwesili on Saturday marked the 30th anniversary of her father’s death with a post eulogising his memory.

Her father, who raised Oby and her siblings from his income working at the Nigeria Ports Authority, continues to have a tremendous influence on her life. “His life-long position on integrity as a critical character trait remains a driving force in Oby’s life,” she said.

Ezekwesili, who was the pioneer head of Nigeria’s Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit, aka Due Process Unit, expressed her feelings on social media saying her father’s memory will continue to live with her.

“Today, 30 years ago, my #UnforgettableDad went to his Maker. Still feels like yesterday cos I carry him in the deepest recesses of my heart. He always said:

“I owe you three things; values, education and a good name. They will take you far.”

“How can I forget you? #TheVoidRemains,” she posted on her Twitter page.

Ezekwesili holds a master’s degree from the University of Lagos and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She is married to Chinedu Ezekwesili and has three sons.
