Lagos Fixes March 8 for Schools’ Second Mid-Term Break

Public and private schools operating in Lagos State have been directed by the state government to embark on a mid-term break on Friday, March 8, 2019.

This will be the second mid-term break schools in the metropolis are undergoing in this current second term of the 2018/2019 academic session.

The first break was observed before the rescheduled February 23, 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections.

In a statement on Monday, the Lagos State government said all schools in the aquatic state should close this Friday in preparation for the governorship election taking place the next day.

In the statement issued by the State Ministry of Education, “all public and private schools in the state are expected to close on Thursday, 7th of March, 2019 and resume on Monday, 11th March, 2019.”

The Ministry emphasised that the directive “became necessary to correct the wrong impression in some quarters that schools will not open on Thursday, March 7, 2019.”

It stated further that the break was to ensure all students and pupils were in their respective homes during the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections that will hold on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

The release, therefore, enjoined all parents, teachers and stakeholders in the education sector and the entire public to observe this break in the interest of all.
