EFCC Arrests Two Nigerian Artistes Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile for Fraud

Two fast-rising Nigerian artistes, Afeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) and Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael (aka Zlatan) have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC).

The two singers were apprehended on Friday by the anti-graft agency in an early morning raid at their residence at 9, Gbangbola Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos.

They were nabbed alongside Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa in connection with alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. Intelligence report had also linked them to cybercrime offences.

The EFCC said at the point of arrest, it found and recovered a number of items, including laptops, from the suspects.

“They have so far volunteered useful information about their involvement in the alleged criminal activities, even as investigations continue,” the agency said.

Some days ago, Naira Marley stirred controversy on the internet when he warned security officials against arresting internet fraudsters because according to him, they (Yahoo Boys) have helped to keep the Nigerian economy liquid with proceeds from their activities.
