Sterling Bank Picks Jaiyeola as Chief Compliance Officer

A former employee of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc, Mr Femi Jayeola, has been appointed as the new Chief Compliance Officer of Sterling Bank.

Mr Jayeola, before joining Sterling Bank in April 2019, was the General Manager and the Group Chief Compliance Officer of Diamond Bank Plc.

A notice issued by Sterling Bank on Friday disclosed that the appointment of Mr Jayeola has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

It was said that new Chief Compliance Officer brings to the Sterling Bank team, the knowledge, skills and extensive experience that he has garnered both locally and internationally across Europe, Africa and Middle East in Risk Management, Banking Operations, Business Advisory, Internal Audit, External Audit and Compliance.

According to the notice, Mr Jaiyeola is a seasoned professional with over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services Industry.

He was previously the Head of Audit, Nigeria and West Africa Cluster at Standard Chartered Bank. His international experiences include six years with UK Financial Service Industry as Vice President in Internal Audit and as an Internal Auditor in Citigroup and Barclays Bank respectively. He also worked at Bond Bank, Nigeria and Arthur Andersen (now KPMG).

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Ilorin and a Master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a Certified Information System Auditor and a member of the Board of Audit, Investigations and Forensic Accounting.
