Weeks after conducting the 2019 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results.

Last month, the examination body conducted the exercise, where more than 1.7 million candidates sat for it.

Announcing the release of the results on Saturday, the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said a total of 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for examination malpractice, while another 15,145 had their results withheld for further clarification.

“We are releasing the results of 1,792,719 candidates. Some 34,120 results are being withheld including the results of 15,145 candidates which are being further clarified as identical twins and siblings,” Prof Oloyede informed newsmen at a press briefing in Abuja on Saturday.

The exam board chief advised candidates to use the phone numbers used to register to text RESULT to 55019, insisting there was no need to approach any Computer Based Test (CBT), or cyber café to check the result.

“Those who were absent got their registration cancelled or had their results withhold would be duly informed,” he added.

Business Post reports that results of the examination were supposed to have been released earlier, but for some issues, which caused serious anxiety and suspicion, creating room for some fraudulent people to deceive desperate candidates with unrealistic promises.

Commenting on this, the JAMB Registrar apologised to Nigerians for the unexpected delay, thanking them for their understanding and patience throughout the period.
