Controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has been released from prison custody.

The singer was remanded in Ikoyi Prisons in Lagos two weeks ago after he was arraigned at a court in the state by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on matters relating to cybercrime.

He was brought before Justice Nicolas Oweibo of Federal High Court, Lagos on May 20, 2019 on an 11-count charge and on May 30, he was granted bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

The judge had said one of the sureties must be a civil servant on Grade Level 10, while the other must own a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court, with a directive that the EFCC must verify the status of each of the sureties, while the case was adjourned to October 22, 23 and 24, 2019 for commencement of trial.

The musician was later told to remain in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail conditions.

But after he was granted bail by the court, Naira Marley remained in prison because of his inability to get the sureties.

However, he was able to complete the bail completion before the close of work today and was subsequently released by the prison officials, who have been his host since his incarceration.

The singer got into trouble after he released a video online asking the EFCC to stop arresting internet fraudsters fondly called Yahoo Boys in Nigeria.
