The Zamfara Area Office of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company has said that it recorded a shortfall of close to N300 million from electricity payment made into its coffers for the month of June from consumers in the state.
Making this announcement was the Area Manager, Mr Sabo Abdul, during a dialogue between the distribution company and stakeholders in Kaura Namoda local government in Zamfara State.
Mr Abdul revealed that the total power supplied to the state in the month of June amounted to N400 million, but renumeration recorded from the electricity consumers was a meagre N120 million.
The Area Manager stressed that the poor payment culture by customers and the vandalization of power assets were majorly responsible for the abysmal electricity supply to the state.
He stated that the state government was doing a good job on its part in ensuring that there is adequate power supply to the state and called on the support of community leaders and consumers to play their own part.
“Zamfara state government is assisting to ensure good supply of power to the state. We are appealing to our esteemed customers to be using energy saving bulbs and switching off appliances whenever they are not in use,” he pleaded.
Mr Abdul then reiterated Kaduna Electric’s commitment in ensuring improved power supply in the state, calling for cooperation from the consumers to bring this to fruition.
The customers pledged their support for Kaduna Electric, promising to play their parts in ensuring a beneficial outcome for all.
