CSCS, NGX Return Unlisted Securities Market to Positive Territory

The unlisted securities market returned to the positive territory on Friday with a 0.46 per cent growth buoyed by Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc and Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Plc.

CSCS Plc gained 68 kobo or 3.8 per cent at the close of trading activities on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange to settle at N18.68 per share in contrast to N18 per share of the previous session.

As for NGX Group, its stock price rose by 0.8 per cent or 15 kobo to close at N20.04 per unit compared with N19.89 per unit it finished on Thursday.

During the session, the volume of securities traded by investors witnessed a significant increase of 216.7 per cent as 1.7 million units exchanged hands in contrast to the 542,315 units transacted the previous day.

In the same vein, there was a 232.6 per cent jump in the value of shares traded yesterday as securities worth N33.3 million were bought and sold versus the N10.0 million recorded on Thursday.

These transactions were carried out by the market participants in 32 deals, 39.1 per cent higher than the 23 deals executed at the prior trading session.

Business Post reports that NGX Group remained the most active stock by shares (year-to-date) with 270.9 million units valued at N6.1 billion, followed by Swap Technologies and Telecomms Plc with 46.6 million units valued at N41 million, and CSCS Plc with 31.4 million units valued at N493.4 million.

Also, NGX Group was the most active stock by value (year-to-date) with 270.9 million units valued at N6.1 billion, trailed by Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc with 2.9 million units valued at N900.5 million and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc with 5.9 million units valued at N750.9 million.

At the close of business for the week, the market capitalisation of the bourse increased by N2.45 billion to N530.35 billion from N527.90 billion, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) improved by 3.45 points to 746.12 points from 742.67 points of the previous session.
