The remains of an employee of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Mrs Charlotte (Nana Yaa) Nikoi, who was reported missing on 21 March while on a family vacation in Cape Town, have now been found.

Her body was discovered within the Table Mountain area in Cape Town, South Africa, last week.

Her employer, the UNICEF, has expressed sadness over the latest development.

“The United Nations family is deeply saddened by the news and wishes to express its condolences to her family and loved ones,” the global body said in a statement.

The UN described Mrs Nikoi as a “committed colleague who devoted the past 18 years of her life to the work and values of the United Nations. Her warmth and steadfast support will be missed by all those who knew her.”

However, the United Nations thanked the South African authorities for their “efforts” and also expressed “its gratitude to all those who assisted in the search for Mrs Nikoi.”

“We ask that her family’s privacy be respected during this difficult time,” the United Nations begged.
