Leading telecoms operator, Airtel Nigeria, has been commended by the Governor of Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun, for partnering with the Ogun State Security Trust Fund (OSTF) to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.

The management of Airtel was at the Government House in Abeokuta on a courtesy visit on Wednesday and Mr Abiodun used the occasion to thank the telco for its generous donations of phones and telecoms solutions to the OSTF, noting that the move will not only boost the state’s security architecture but will also enhance the efficiency of the Police and other security operatives in the discharge of their duties.

“Airtel has always demonstrated that it is not just a business, but a business that is committed to touching lives and we thank them for the generous donations to the OSTF.

“We appreciate the fact that security is important to good governance. Our vision is to provide focused governance while creating an enabling environment for public, private partnership. As with security, we believe we can also use ICT to impact other sectors including education,” the Governor said.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Mr Segun Ogunsanya, earlier in his address, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting causes that will help create a better and safer society.

“Today, we are here to reaffirm our partnership with Ogun State Government in building a safe community. And we are donating phones (handsets), SIM cards and airtime to help provide stability, comfort and to improve the security situation in Ogun.

“At Airtel, we believe that every Good Company has an obligation to support its community. Your Excellency, we accept this obligation. My favourite saying is that to be a Great Person, you must be a Good person. Likewise, to be a Great Company, you must be a Good Company. We are a Good Company,” he said.

The Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Security Trust Fund, Mr Opeyemi Agbaje, also lauded Airtel’s efforts, stating that its support will provide an additional layer that will help curb crime in the state.

The Airtel CEO had in his delegation the company’s Corporate communications and CSR Director, Mr Emeka Oparah; the Regional Operations Director, West Region, Mr Femi Oshinlaja and the Customer Service Director, Ms Veronica Onoja.
