Afromedia Rejigs Board, Appoints Two Directors

Two new persons have been appointed to the board of Afromedia Plc as part of efforts to reposition the company for greater heights.

The two appointees, Mr Kabir Usman and Mr Lateef Bakare, are expected to bring their wealth of experience into the firm so as to achieve the goals that made them to be selected for position.

A statement issued by the company disclosed that the duo were appointed to the board of Afromedia with effect from July 22, 2019, as non-executive directors.

“The board and management of Afromedia PLC are confident that their wealth of experience will be great addition to the existing mix on the board,” the notice read.

Mr Usman holds a B.sc in Mathematics from University of Maiduguri and Master’s Degrees in Banking and Finance, and in Business Administration (MBA) from Bayero University, Kano and Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom respectively.

He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management from the University of Gloucestershire United Kingdom.

Mr Usman has attended various Leadership and Management courses both local and international, and he is a member of the Chartered Management Institute of England and Wales, United Kingdom.

Prior to his appointment Mr Usman has over 25 years of cognate Banking and Management Consulting experience with an in-depth knowledge and skills in diverse areas spanning, Business Development, Credits and Risk Management, Strategic Marketing, Banking Operations, Internal Audits, Administration, Relationship Management and Branch/Group Management responsibilities.

On his part, Mr Bakare holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from the Yaba College of Technology Yaba, Lagos. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants of U.K (ACCA), Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fellow of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and a Member of the Institute of Directors (Nigeria).

Prior to his appointment, Mr Bakare has had about 42 years working experience in diverse areas spanning, Corporate Restructuring and Financial re-engineering. He is a founding member of BRIPAN (Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners of Nigeria).
