Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc, Mr Morufu Apampa, has resigned his appointment, the company has confirmed.

In a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the insurance company disclosed that the resignation took effect from Friday, November 30, 2018.

However, the main reason for the resignation of Mr Apampa was not stated by the firm and there was nowhere in the statement the board thanked him for his service to the company or wished him well in his future endeavours.

“This is to inform our valued shareholders and general public that the Managing Director/Chief Executive of SUNU Assurances Nigeria Plc, Mr Morufu Apampa, had resigned his appointment effective November 30, 2018.

“His resignation had been accepted by the board of directors,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the company in charge of Technical and Operation, Mr Samuel Ogbodu, has been asked to take over the position in an acting capacity.

Mr Ogbodu is not expected to spend more than 90 days in the position before a substantive person is announced by the firm.

“The Executive Director, Technical and Operation, Mr Samuel Ogbodu, had assumed the role of the MD/CEO of SUNU Assurances Nigeria in acting capacity for a maximum period of 90 days.

“This is in line with the provisions of NAICOM’s Code of Corporate Governance.

“The board of directors would therefore take appropriate steps within the period of 90 days to appoint a substantive MD/CEO for the company. “All stakeholders are requested to take not of the above information,” the statement signed by the Company Secretary, Mr John Akujieze, stressed.
