The board of Champion Breweries Plc has announced the appointment of Mr Georgios Polymenakos as its new Managing Director with effect from January 6, 2020.

A statement signed by Chairman of Champion Breweries, Mr Elijah Akpan, disclosed that Mr Polymenakos was picked by the board at its meeting held on Thursday, December 12, 2019.

The appointment, according to Mr Akpan, was done following the retirement of Mr Patrick Ejidoh, from the brewery company after being on three years pilot affairs of the organisation.

“Mr Polymenakos replaces Mr Patrick Ejidoh who retired as Managing Director of Champion Breweries after three years at the helm of affairs of the company and after a career spanning over 32 years,” a part of the statement said.

Mr Akpan said “the board of directors of Champion Breweries thanks Mr Ejidoh immensely for all his hard work and wish him the very best in his future endeavour.”

It was stated that the new head of the firm, Mr Polymenakos, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Wales. Until October 2019, he was the Managing Director of Nigerian Bottling Company Limited, the franchise bottler of Coca-Cola in Nigeria.

His career in Marketing and Leadership has spanned for over 21 years; starting as a Merchandiser under the Graduate Trainees programme of Coca-Cola Hellenic and grew through the ranks progressively in his career.

He has held the positions of Commercial Development Manager, Country Manager, Regional General Manager and Managing Director until his present appointment.
