Ekiti Govt Offers to Help Ailing Veteran Actor Fadeyi Oloro

The Ekiti State government led by Governor Kayode Fayemi, has promised to do its best to get ailing Yoruba actor, Mr Ojo Arowosafe, otherwise known as Fadeyi Oloro, back on his feet.

The Igbara Odo Ekiti born theatre icon known for his herbalist role in movies, was diagnosed of tuberculosis and prostate related issues, which have kept off movie locations for a while.

On Tuesday, a team sent to the actor’s home in Itele Ota area of Ogun State, conveyed the Governor’s message to him.

The team led by the Director General of Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Mr Wale Ojo Lanre, assured the veteran actor that Governor Fayemi will look keenly into his case.

Accompanied by the Director of Culture in the agency, Mr Adebanji Oyinade Adelusi, the DG said, “The governor is our father in the state and he is concerned about everybody. He wants Ekiti indigenes to be healthy and happy wherever they are in the world.

“He was not happy when he heard of your health status and that was why he asked us to locate you, know your status and present you this [cash] to support your [medical] bills,” Mr Ojo Lanre told Fadeyi Oloro.

He assured the thespian of further support from the Governor.

In his remarks, Fadeyi Oloro thanked the Governor for finding it worthy to visit and support him in this trying period of his.

“I am very happy that my state governor did not ignore and allow me to die like a pauper in this sickness. I am grateful to him and pray for his success in office,” he told his guests.

Narrating his ordeal, Fadeyi Oloro said, “The ailment started in February this year, when I was diagnosed of tuberculosis and later prostate related diseases.

“I would have been dead by now because the doctor was not sure whether I would survive when they took me to the hospital, but God gave me a second chance and I thank him for it.”

The actor commended Mrs Joe Odumakin, who he described as “an Angel sent by God to save me from untimely death,” saying that the human rights activist and her team have been doing a wonderful work.

“She is a great woman whose contribution to my being alive today cannot be quantified. I will never forget in my life how she has helped me and also solici support for me,” he added.

Also speaking during the visit, Mrs Odumakin, who is the founder of Women Arise, a human rights organisation, lauded Governor Fayemi for his genuine passion in caring for the well-being of his people

According to her, Mr Fayemi has “demonstrated exemplary virtue with this gesture and I am indeed happy and grateful to him.”

She however, appealed to Nigerians to still support Fadeyi Oloro to regain his health and be back on his feet.
