A popular Nigerian singer, Mr Olanrewaju Fasasi, has died. The talented music act, who shot into the limelight in the late 90s, was said to have died of throat cancer.

Recall that in May 2021, an online news platform, Sahara Reporters, reported that the singer was diagnosed with throat cancer and was in the United States of America (USA) for chemotherapy.

In a report on Sunday by the Punch, a family member of the singer, who released his debut single, Jagbajantis in 2000, Mr Kayode Fasasi, was said to have issued a statement to confirm the demise of his relative.

Sound Sultan is one of the artistes in Nigeria with conscious lyrics. He is known to pass meaningful messages confronting the society through his songs. He would have been 45 on November 27. The singer lived most of his life in Festac, Lagos.
