There was a mild pandemonium on Monday in Adamawa State when the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Aisha Alhassan, collapsed at the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camp in Fufore Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred while the Minister was addressing vulnerable IDP women inside a store in the camp.
However, she was quickly assisted to a chair and given a bottle of soft drink, which revived her.
It was said that Mrs Alhassan had been diagnosed with low sugar, a problem that creates serious weakness of the body.
She arrived the camp in crutches and spoke with the IDPs before going into the store to have discussions with some women.
During her visit, the Minister said she was at the camp to give a message from President Muhammadu Buhari to the displaced persons, who wanted them to cheer up despite the hardship because everything was being done to ensure that they go back to their homes.
According to her, Mr Buhari was touched by their suffering and that was why he sent her to come and donate relief materials and felicitate with them.
After the visit, the Minister told newsmen that she was on a fact-finding mission to Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States investigate allegation of violation of girls and women at the camps.
