Former England goalkeeper, David James, is in Ghana, where he is showcasing the world renowned FA Cup.
The Emirates FA Cup trophy embarked on its first-ever tour of Africa, courtesy of the competition’s title sponsor Emirates.
Emirates FA Cup ambassador and former England international David James has had a successful international football career playing for British Premier league clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, West Ham United and Aston Villa.
After he arrived Ghana, the former goal stopper had an interaction with members of staff of the British High Commission in Accra.
They were delighted to meet Mr James as he spoke reminiscently of career achievements, his love for the sport and his experience of touring the world and interacting with keen supporters of premiership league football.
He also praised England Manager, Mr Gareth Southgate, and spoke of the great efforts some of his peers have taken in their stride to place football on the global map, naming Mr David Beckham as one of his favourite former team players as a positive advocate and role model of the GREAT British Sport.
The trophy will remain in Ghana for two days, attending a variety of events including a meet and greet with competition winners from a local radio programme, who will have the opportunity to take photos with the famous piece of silverware and the 2008 FA Cup winner.
