Three Stocks Push NASD to Bullish Territory by 0.22%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the last trading day of the week in the bullish territory on Friday with a 0.22 per cent growth.

Three stocks; NASD Plc, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc, and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria were responsible for the rise posted by the bourse yesterday.

They increased the market capitalisation by N2.27 billion to N1.019 trillion from the previous session’s N1.016 trillion and raised the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) by 1.72 points to 773.79 points from the 772.07 points recorded in the previous session.

The price advancers were led by NASD Plc as the firm saw its stock rise by N1.59 to close at N18.09 per unit as against N16.50 per unit of the preceding day, while CSCS Plc grew by 26 Kobo to sell at N14.51 per share versus Thursday’s N14.25 per share, with FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc expanding by 10 Kobo to end the day at N14.51 per share compared to N14.25 per share it previously quoted.

The unlisted stock exchange did not record a price decliner yesterday but the level of activity waned as the volume of securities traded went down by 96.2 per cent to 319,497 units from 8.3 million units.

Also, the value of transactions declined by 92.8 per cent to N10.0 million from N445.1 million, while the number of deals depreciated by 73.3 per cent to eight deals from the 30 deals achieved in the last session.

AG Mortgage Plc finished the trading session as the most active stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 2.3 billion units valued at N1.2 billion, CSCS Plc trailed with 675.6 million units valued at N14.1 billion, while Food Concepts Plc was in third place with 146.5 million units worth N127.2 million.

The most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis was still CSCS Plc with a turnover of 675.6 million units worth N14.1 billion, trailed by VFD Group Plc with 11.1 million units traded for N3.3 billion, and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc with 11.9 million units valued at N1.5 billion.
