Gisthouse Unveils Kate Henshaw as African Icon for February

A Nigerian movie star, Kate Henshaw, has been unveiled as the Gisthouse African Icon for February 2023.
“We are most excited and privileged to announce Kate Henshaw, a bonafide superstar of Nollywood, the world’s third biggest movie industry, as the GistHouse Afrocentric Icon for February 2023,” the founder of Gisthouse, Dr Ope Banwo, informed newsman at a press conference to unveil the award-winning actress.
Mr Banwo explained that Ms Henshaw was selected as the African icon for the month of February 2023 in recognition of her contributions to Nollywood and socio-political issues in Nigeria.
He noted that the thespian would be celebrated on Gisthouse on Friday, February 24, as the icon of February, with different special rooms to be dedicated to celebrating her and her body of work while also hosting her to a special conversation on the GistHouse platform.

She has not only excelled as a marquee actress, with dozens of international blockbuster movies to her credit, but she has also been a major force in speaking on burning socio-political issues in the country.
“A celebrated actress, Kate Henshaw is the ideal professional who is not blind to the social issues in her country, and who is not afraid to speak out when the need arises. Apart from attaining legendary status in her acting career in Nollywood, Kate Henshaw continues to be a potent force for good in her country Nigeria, as well as an inspiration to ladies, youths, and lovers of progress generally.

A Nigerian actress, Temitope Osoba, fondly called Tope Osoba by her fans, has reportedly passed away.
She died barely a year after she survived a battle with breast cancer, reports say.
The 41-year-old entertainer left the acting world to cater to her health, but returned shortly after she had a successful treatment in 2025.
The movie producer, however, has not been very active in the past months, ostensibly due to her health.
Her demise has come as a shock to some of her colleagues and admirers, as she was very lively during her lifetime.
Details about the unfortunate incident, which became known to her fans on Wednesday morning, have not been given by her family.

After days of anticipation, Flora and Aikou have been confirmed as this season’s Gambits after receiving the highest number of votes from viewers. This was revealed during Sunday’s live show, where host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced the pair as the viewers’ choices.
Introduced as a brand-new twist for Season 11, The Gambit guarantees two selected housemates a place in the House until the final day. Although they will participate in tasks and House activities throughout the season, they will not be eligible to compete for the grand prize.
Sunday’s live show also marked the end of the Ladies-versus-Gentlemen format that defined the opening weeks of the competition. With the teams officially dissolved, the housemates will now compete as individuals.
