The newly appointed General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr Maroof Olawale Musa, has restated the agency’s commitment to free-flow of traffic in the state.
The General Manager, speaking while on an unscheduled visit to Pen Cinema, Agege and environs said the agency is determined to achieve this by working in line with the best global practice.
According to him, the visit to Agege became imperative because of many complaints received about drivers, especially commercial drivers who drive against traffic along the axis, stressing that the refusal to comply with traffic laws, indiscipline and impatience remain major impediments to free flow of traffic in the State.
While noting that the agency is not out to impound vehicles or cause hardship to motorists, Musa assured that LASTMA would stop at nothing in performing its statutory function of reducing traffic gridlocks in Lagos.
He maintained that LASTMA is a responsible, responsive, and disciplined agency, saying that, “every LASTMA official must demonstrate discipline on duty, shun corruption, be dedicated to duty and respect road users”.
The General Manager also used the opportunity to call for the cooperation of motorists, noting that this is necessary for effective performance by officers of the Agency. He said the unscheduled visits will continue on regular basis in a bid to reposition the agency while restoring confidence of road users.
