US Embassy Urges Algerians to Apply for Exchange Programs

Educational and cultural exchanges are a key pillar of U.S. diplomacy. In Algeria, the U.S. Embassy is proud to build bridges and mutual understanding between Americans and Algerians through a wide range of exchange programs.

Since 1986, the U.S. Embassy has sponsored approximately 4,000 Algerians to participate in programs linked to professional development, leadership, education, entrepreneurship, science, the arts, and more.

One Beat Fellowship

Program for innovative musicians interested in connecting communities and cultures through music, with a special focus on reaching youth with positive messages.

Program includes performances and workshops in multiple U.S. cities from September 20 to October 22, 2017. Last year, popular singer and songwriter Amel Zen was selected as a One Beat Fellow and represented Algeria on a music tour in the United States.

Algeria Youth Leadership Program

Program for Algerian youth ages 15-17 to learn leadership skills and participate in community service activities and team-building exercises. This program will take place in Washington, DC and Reno, Nevada August 7-31, 2017, with orientation in Algiers August 4-6, 2017. The U.S. Embassy is also seeking applications from young adults who can serve as mentors and chaperones while enhancing their leadership skills.

Between the Lines

A program for youth ages 16-19 to develop creative writing skills at the University of Iowa from July 1-15, 2017. The U.S. Embassy is also seeking applications from adults who can serve as mentors and chaperones.

Tech Girls

Program in Washington, DC designed to empower girls ages 15-17 to pursue careers in science and technology.  Tentative program dates are July 11-August 3, 2017.

Application deadline: March 9, 2017

Atlas Corp Fellowship for Professionals and Entrepreneurs

A 12-18 month program in the United States for professionals and entrepreneurs ages 23-35 years old to gain experience working in business and non-profit sectors.

Application deadline: March 15, 2017

Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program

Six-week academic program in the United States for full-time teachers (who work with students ages 12-18) to learn about new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional technology.

Application deadline: April 30, 2017

Fulbright Foreign Student Program

Enables students to pursue graduate-level study in the United States for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Application deadline: May 31, 2017
