Investors Gain N20bn in Five Days as Capital Bancorp, Aradel Holdings Rise

The 16th week of trading at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange saw the market return to the green territory with a 1.4 per cent appreciation in five days of trading.

In the week, the market capitalisation of the alternative bourse increased by N20 billion to settle at N1.429 trillion compared with the preceding week’s N1.409 trillion, and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 0.68 points to close at 1,043.32 points, in contrast to the 1,028.79 points it ended a week earlier.

The market breadth was negative last week after the trading platform posted two gainers and three price losers.

Aradel Holdings Plc appreciated by 8.4 per cent close at N1,841.97 per share versus the previous closing price of N1,700.00 per share, and Capital Bancorp Plc grew its share value by 5.3 per cent to N2.21 per unit from N2.10 per unit.

Conversely, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc lost 9.1 per cent to end at N20.00 per share against the previous week’s N22.00 per share, UBN Property Plc depreciated by 8.3 per cent to end at N1.65 per unit versus the previous week’s N1.80 per unit, and Afriland Properties Plc dipped by 1.5 per cent to end at N10.10 per share versus N10.25 per share.

In Week 16, the total volume of transactions carried out by investors plunged by 98.6 per cent to 3.3 million units from 230.9 million units, the total value of trades went down by 72.8 per cent to N331.4 million, while the number of deals increased by 156 per cent to 95 trades from the 37 deals achieved in the previous week.

UBN Property Plc was the most traded security by volume with 2.6 million units, Aradel Holdings Plc traded 0.26 million units, Afriland Properties Plc exchanged 0.17 million units, Capital Bancorp Plc transacted 0.06 million units, and CSCS Plc traded 0.05 million units.

But Aradel Holdings Plc was the most traded stock by value with N320.4 million, UBN Property Plc traded N4.49 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc posted N1.8 million, Afriland Properties Plc recorded N1.72 million, and CSCS Plc transacted N1.14 million.
