NASD OTC Exchange Weakens 1.32% in 25th Trading Week of 2024

The 25th trading week of 2023 at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed on a negative note after a 1.32 per cent week-on-week (WoW) loss in the three-day trading week.

The decline suffered by the alternative stock market was influenced by the poor performance put up by two bellwether stocks on the trading platform, resulting in the market capitalisation going down by N29 billion to N2.101 trillion from the N2.130 trillion recorded in the preceding week, as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) was shortened by 10.55 points to 1,533.53 points from 1,544.08 points.

Afriland Properties Plc lost 7.1 per cent in the week to sell for N17.00 per share compared with the previous week’s N18.30 per share, and Aradel Holdings Plc dipped by 2.9 per cent to N5,003.15 per unit from the previous closing value of N5,150.00 per unit.

But Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc gained 5.00 per cent to end at N21.00 per share against the former value of N20.00 per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc appreciated by 0.6 per cent to N44.48 unit from the preceding week’s N44.21 per unit.

The total volume of shares traded during the week slid by 98.2 per cent to 2.6 million units from 217.6 million units, the total value of securities traded in the week also went south by 64.0 per cent to N278.8 million from N775.7 million, and the number of deals decreased by 30.4  per cent to 112 deals from the 161 deals recorded in the previous week.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc was the most traded security by volume with 986, 174 units, followed by UBN Property Plc with 503,275 units, Acorn Petroleum Plc exchanged 500,000 units, Afriland Properties Plc transacted 287,484 units, and Geo Fluids Plc traded 174,500 units.

Aradel Holdings Plc was the most traded stock by value with N225.9 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc exchanged N43.3 million, Afriland Properties Plc posted N4.9 million, Nipco Plc recorded N1.9 million, and CSCS Plc reported N0.9 million.
