The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange extended its decline by 0.10 per cent on Thursday, August 23 after the bears overpowered the bulls.
Two securities, Food Concepts and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, were responsible for the fall of the alternative stock exchange yesterday, overshadowing the gains reported by the duo of Afriland Properties Plc and Aradel Holdings.
As a result, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) closed lower by 1.51 points to 1,530.19 points from the preceding day’s 1,531.70 points, and the market capitalisation depreciated by N2.06 billion to N2.096 trillion from Wednesday’s N2.098 trillion.
Food Concepts Plc lost 10 Kobo during the trading day to finish at N1.80 per unit compared to N1.90 per unit, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc shed 53 Kobo to quote at N47.47 per share versus the midweek’s value of N48.00 per share.
On the flip side, Afriland Properties Plc appreciated by 39 Kobo to close the day at N17.99 per unit compared with Wednesday’s price of N17.60 per unit and Aradel Holdings Plc jumped by N5.00 to N5,000 per share from N4,995.00 per share.
There was a 98.2 per cent slump in the volume of securities traded on Thursday to 139,315 units from 7.6 million units, but the value of shares traded increased by 133.4 per cent to N409.1 million from N175.3 million and the number of deals went up by 100 per cent to 74 deals from the 37 deals posted a day earlier.
Afriland Properties Plc remained the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 292.9 million units sold for N5.2 billion, trailed by Capital Hotels Plc with 259.6 million units valued at N1.3 billion, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with 218.8 million units worth N46.1 million.
Aradel Holdings Plc also retained its position as the most active stock by value (year-to-date) with 9.8 million units worth N32.9 billion, followed by Afriland Properties Plc with 292.9 million units sold for N5.2 billion, and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with 105.8 million units valued at N2.5 billion.
