One of the major airlines in Nigeria, Arik Air, has announced the resumption of flight operations after it resolved issues with unions in the aviation industry.

In a statement released on Thursday night, the airline said flight operations to all routes resume Friday, March 24, 2017 (today).

While it apologised to its “customers for the disruption of our operations” caused by the picketing of its services by the unions, Arik Air reassured its “customers of on time departure and great travel experience,” sating it looks forward to “welcoming them onboard our flights.”

The airline said the impasse, which was led by the Lagos State branch of National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and National Association of Aircraft Pilot and Engineers (NAAPE) was resolved in a meeting mediated by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

In a related development, Arik Air said it has reactivated its online platform for customers to book and pay online through all its network.

The airline’s on time departure performance has improved to over 80 percent over the last three weeks.
